Mechanism of spalling of some structural steels under X-ray irradiation

Thermomechanical splitting off fracturing the structural steel foils under affecting short-time pulse of x-ray radiation during nuclear explosion is investigated. The used widely steel and alloy types such as 08, 10, 65G, 60S2A, Kh18N10T, 36NKhTYu, 42NKhTYu, 50NKhS and 80NKhS are subjected to X-ray irradiation. The time dependences of the splitting off strength under thermal shock are founds. It is shown that the steel durability is decreased exponentially with the rise in amplitude of fracturing stresses.
