An account of the 14th conference on refractories held by the Czech Silicate Society in Prague, is presented. A lecture was presented on the development of the refractories industries in the Czech and Slovak Republics. Other technical papers presented in the seminars include recycling in the refractory industry, structural properties and thermal conductivity of refractory materials, and corrosion process precautions at the temperature gradient.
