A low complexity digital bandwidth-configurable modulator was developed based on a configurable rate-conversion module in the digital baseband for various bandwidth requirements in communication systems with traditional DAC and RF modules. The configurable rate conversion module works at multiple input sampling rates and one fixed output sampling rate. The module has an upsampling unit with a configurable rate-change factor and an image-rejection filter, which uses a Nyquist filter because of its simplicity. The concrete system is verified with emphasis on the design of the configurable rate conversion module in a narrowband system.
