The geologic characteristics of viscous oil blocks and the problems of sand control in production by cyclic steam injection are studied analytically, a set of sand control and its support processes are optimized, which are suitable for producting by steam injection in the viscous oil block of Gudong oilfield. Field application shows that a combined sand control method constituted by coated sand with metallic cotton sand filter tube is appropriate for viscous oil production by cyclic steam injecting in loose sandstone reservoirs of the oilfield, which is of high success rate and long effective period; a through pump electric heating process is used after the steam injection, to improve the effect of viscous oil recovery and lengthen the steam injecting cycle, optimizing perforating process and pretreatment of antiswelling are effective measures for promoting success rate of sand control in loose argillaceous sandstone reservoirs.
