Nowadays, databases are almost everywhere. Software applications produced for different domains contains and manages databases. These applications performance is determined in a great deal by the database structure and its capability to respond in a short and consistent way to the users needs. Database design is an important step in the information system life cycle and it should be done in a proper manner to assure this performance goal. The paper presents an optimization algorithm for physical database design based on Cleanroom model. The algorithm helps to obtain an optimal structure for the database and to eliminate errors from the database designing process.
