Congestion control algorithm based on bandwidth estimation over satellite network

The growth of congestion window of Hybla algorithm performs aggressively, and its transmission rate fails to accurately match the real-time status of the link in long time-delay satellite network. In this case, a new congestion control algorithm called Hybla-BE is proposed in this paper. Hybla-BE estimates bandwidth to obtain remaining available bandwidth, and adjusts the increment of congestion window based on the residual available bandwidth. As a result, the network performance gets improved as the transmission rate can match the dynamic changes of link status. Simulation results show that, Hybla-BE algorithm achieves better throughput than traditional algorithms, and keeps a good fairness. © 2015, ISSN 1881-803X.
