Decorative and functional metallic effect pigments

A number of decorative and functional pigments available in the Benda-Lutz metallic effects portfolio by Sun Chemical are discussed. Benda-Lutz Maxal and Maxal Plus are premium lines of aluminum pigments with sophisticated lenticular or silver dollar flake geometry. In addition to their uniform flake structure, these pigments are precisely controlled to have a very nanolow particle size distribution. The Maxal portfolio covers a broad range of particle sizes. In general, brilliance and sparkle increases with particle size and opacity decreases. Benda-Lutz Maxal EC is an encapsulation technology unique to Sun Chemical that gives superior resistance to acid and alkali staining for a variety of applications including the coating of automotive parts and accessories. Goldbronzes are flake pigments made from copper or copper-zinc alloys, which are popular for decorative ink and coating applications due to their unique gold and metallic bronze effects.
