Preparation of UV-curing polyurethane acrylate/epoxy acrylate/SiO2 hybrid materials by sol-gel method

The polyurethane acrylate/epoxy acrylate/SiO2 hybrid materials were prepared by sol-gel method from 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (KH-570) and SiO2 sol produced by tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). The results of field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) indicate that the SiO2 particles are dispersed uniformly in resin matrix. The particles are the smallest with the mass ratios of TEOS:(PUA+EA)=0.4:1. And the diameter is approximately 80 nm~100 nm. when the ratios reach 0.6:1, SiO2 particles are agglomerated. Meanwhile, the thermal analysis illuminates that the hybrid materials begin to lose mass at 350°C and the initial decomposition temperature is 143.8°C, which is about twice than that of the pure resin with the mass ratios of TEOS:(PUA+EA)=0.4:1.
