Since December 1999, three major European producers have proclaimed that there is enough coated woodfree demand to justify bringing over 900,000 tons/yr of capacity on stream in the next two years. The three firms include UPM-Kymmene, Metsa-Serla and the (former) Modo Paper. Although some paper industry players are deeply concerned over the effect of widening the production net, other market observers are convinced that the next decade should see enough demands to support the capacity boost.
