Review on algorithms of image volume rendering

Volume rendering techniques, as an important area of visualization, have made great progress. The typical algorithms about volume rendering including ray-casting, splashing and shear-warp were summarized and the frequency domain volume rendering, wavelet-based volume rendering were described, and then their features were evaluated on the base of describing the basic knowledge of the algorithms. At last, the sampling and rendering image were proposed by taking full advantage of all kinds of coherences of the ray-casting algorithm, which would be propitious to go further development and spread application of the volume rendering technique.
