Effect of high temperature oxidation on cemented carbide during brazing

The oxidation behavior of YG-11C cemented carbide heating at 900, 950, 1000 was investigated, and the performance of oxidation of carbide bit during the brazing was measured. The results show that oxidation of cemented carbide occurs in 10 min when the temperature is above 900, the hard phase WC and binder phase Co are oxidized into WO3 and CoWO4. Deformation and mass gain occur when the cemented carbide is oxidized, and the higher the temperature is the more serious the oxidation behavior is, and the more obvious deformation and mass gain is. The microstructure of carbide bit becomes loose and porous after surface oxidation during brazing at high temperature, and the hardness and wear-resistance decrease. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of Transactions of Materials and Heat Treatment.
