New techniques, materials, and construction procedures are still being developed for the construction of dams. A better understanding of roller compacted concrete (RCC) behavior is now allowing for the planning, design, and construction of RCC dams to unprecedented heights. The topics discussed are based on experience at more than 10 RCC dam projects, including Olivenhain dam, a 93 m-high RCC dam currently under construction in San Diego Country, California, USA.
