The application of the ASE40 gas turbine at a cogeneration facility at the Quebecor Printing Nevada, Inc plant in Fernley, Nevada, USA is described. The Fernley plant has ten presses with a peak power requirement of 4.9 MW. Quebecor Printing Nevada signed a contract in 1999 with power provider QDI to install a cogeneration system to provide electric power and process steam. QDI contracted Vericor Power systems for a VPS3 generating set including the ASE40 turbine. Details are given of the cogeneration system and the control system.
