Polyimides with side-chain chromophores linked at its center position were synthesized. The presence of triethylamine allowed diaminoanisole&middotH2SO4 to react smoothly with dianhydrides to form polyamic acid with reasonably high molecular weight. The resulting polyimide is soluble in common organic solvents. The polymer films are clear, transparent and light yellow.
