摘要
The paper mainly deals with the influence of a ship's hull on its POD propeller. The hydrodynamic behavior of POD in a wake was investigated. The wake velocity distribution was calculated with computational fluid dynamics method, the hydrodynamic behavior of the POD propeller was evaluated using the surface panel method. The interaction between the POD and the propeller was determined by iterative calculations. The induced velocity between the POD and the propeller was calculated by the Morino formula. Using the calculated results for the ship's wake, the hydrodynamic performance of the POD propeller was then analyzed. The research showed that a ship's wake can significantly reduce the efficiency of a POD propeller. The greater the distance between a POD propeller and the ship's hull, the higher the efficiency of a POD propeller.
