The method of evaluating the conditions of formation of gas pores in the weld metal in automatic argon-shielded arc welding of titanium alloys on the basis of the equation of movement of the pores in the weld pool metal and the equation of the instantaneous cooling rate of the point of the weld pool is described. The theoretical calculations are confirmed by the results of X-ray diffraction examination of the specimens. © 2013 © 2013 Taylor & Francis.
