摘要
The aim of this review is to introduce ink-jet printing, in terms of ink-jet paper, design of coating compositions, and ink-jet coating rheology. In recent years, there has been a market demand for better quality ink-jet paper over that of multi-purpose ink-jet paper, but at a similar price. With the development of digital printing technology, there has been an increase in demand for ink-jet paper that is suitable for high-speed ink-jet printing. To develop such products, it is important to meet requirements in terms of price and quality. In the case of raw materials, it is necessary to reduce the amount of specialty silica and high-priced poly (vinyl alcohol) in the ink-jet coating composition to drive down costs. Proper use of low-cost mineral pigments and alternative binders, such as vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer (VAE emulsion) binder and starch, are also important. The ink-jet coating composition should also be designed to improve coating runability and optimize print quality. © 2021 Korean Technical Assoc. of the Pulp and Paper Industry. All rights reserved.
