Two novel one-dimensional coordination polymers, [M(μ2-bpdc) (H2O)2]n (M = Fe, Mn) (bpdc = 2, 2'-bipyridyl-3,3'-dicarboxlate), were synthesized adopting solvothermal reactions. The two crystal had similar structures through the investigation of IR and elemental analysis. The compounds are a semiconductor with the energy gap of 1.7 eV and 2.2 eV. The effects of reaction conditions were discussed.
