In this paper, based on experiments of 9 full scale concrete columns strengthened by carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) under eccentric loadings, the behaviors of concrete columns and CFRP sheets were investigated, including the ultimate strength, the lateral deflection and the section strain distribution. The formulas for bearing capacity and lateral deflection of concrete columns strengthened by CFRP were given. The calculated results showed that the ultimate strength of concrete columns was enhanced and the ductility of concrete columns was improved obviously. The mechanical behavior of reinforced concrete columns strengthened by CFRP was simulated using finite element program ANSYS. The experiments and calculation results can provide theoretical reference for the engineering application.
