Low-temperature physical properties of TmSnGe and LuSnGe

The compounds RSnGe (R = Tm, Lu) were synthesized in polycrystalline form and characterized by X-ray diffraction, magnetization, electrical resistivity and heat capacity measurements performed in wide temperature range. TmSnGe was found to show a Curie-Weiss paramagnetic behavior with no magnetic ordering down to 0.35 K. LuSnGe was established to be a weak diamagnet and to exhibit a BCS-type superconductivity below 0.74 K. © 2014 Elsevier B.V.
