The phase, dispersive and morphological properties of an Al2O3 powder obtained by the explosive synthesis method are experimentally studied. It is shown that the particle size distribution has three pronounced maxima connected with the run of different combustion regimes. The mutual relation is found between the sizes and morphology of assumed and synthesized powders. The ultradisperse particles are shown to have the spherical shape without sinters. The X-ray phase analysis of the ultradisperse part of the synthesized powders shows that this part consists only of metastable oxide phases (δ- or oxynitride one).
