The existing two-dimensional robust adaptive beamforming algorithms only have simplex function and the multifunctional robust beamforming algorithms are scarce. In order to overcome all the cases which would lead to performance degradation, an improved two-dimensional robust adaptive beamforming algorithm combined with spatial spectrum estimation technology is proposed. Firstly, spatial spectrum estimation algorithm is used to estimate the directions of the target signals. Then the weight vector is calculated via virtual interferences constructed with the help of angle information, and the calibration algorithm for amplitude and phase errors is used as well. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has the advantages of the adaptive beamforming technology and the spectrum estimation technology simultaneously, and the proposed algorithm has sufficient robustness for steering vector error, angle of arrival mismatch interference and amplitude-phase errors. © 2014 by Binary Information Press
