One restriction on the black liquor recovery boiler generating both electricity and steam is the corrosion of the superheater at high steam temperatures. Increasing the boiler drum pressure can not be achieved easily. This paper reviews the thermochemistry of some corrosion reactions with sulphur and chloride in the kraft recovery boiler.
