On December 29, 1999, Westvaco Corporation, NY, completed its previously-announced acquisition of Temple-Inland Incorporation's bleached paperboard mill in Evadale, TX. With 670,000 tons of annual production capacity, the mill increases Westvaco's total bleached paperboard capacity to 1.6 million tons. The increase strengthens Westvaco's position as the second largest bleached board producer in the world.
