Volume measurements of standing trees have a variety of ways at home and abroad, in the traditional method, we measure tree height and DBH, then calculate the volume with standard volume table. The results are greatly influenced by empirical models. This paper puts forward a method of using the electronic theodolite combined with the form point method to calculate the stocking, in this study, we selected the Wang YeDian Forestry Experimental Centre in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as the research area, using electronic theodolite to measure 125 Larch and 77 Aspen. The tree volumes were calculated with 0.5 point method,√0.5 point method and 3/4 point method respectively. At the same time, the results are compared and analyzed with the traditional sectional measurement. The results show that the accuracy of 0.5 point method is the highest for Larch, the shape dots are between 60% and 75% of the location of the tree trunk; for Aspen, the accuracy of 3/4 is the highest, the shape dots are between 28 and 40 percent of the location of the tree trunk. © 2018, SHPMedia Sdn Bhd.
