A universal chromatographic distribution function and its use in high-performance size-exclusion chromatography

A generalized chromatographic distribution function of the parametric type was proposed which at certain integer values of the criterial parameter is reduced to five base functions, including the normal-logarithmic Kraemer-Lansing distribution and Schulz distribution functions. The use of the proposed function in the analysis of size-exclusion chromatograms makes it possible to determine the analytical forms of molecular-mass distributions of polymers of interest which fit in the best fashion to the chromatograms, and to speculate on the character and extent of deviation of MMD of polymers from the base distribution functions in terms of the found values of criterial parameters. Using the function proposed, a chromatogram can be resolved into individual peaks with simultaneous obtaining the aforementioned information for the separated peaks.
