The dynamic model for air-rock heat exchange inside deep underground tunnel

Underground tunnel is often used to cool or heat air for underground project. Air-rock heat exchange model is very important in applications. Single-variable model and semi-steady multi-variable model for air-rock heat exchange in underground tunnel were introduced, and dynamical simulating model was developed. The dynamic model includes a 1-D sub-model of transient convection-diffusion for air and a 1-D sub-model of transient heat conduction for rock. The two sub-models were solved numerically. By arranging the discrete equations appropriately, the air model and the rock model could be solved sequentially. In case of constant-rock-temperature and constant-inlet-air-temperature, numerical resolution fitted theoretical resolution very well. Comparisons of simulated data to field test data from Ertan power plant were conducted. The temperature error was within 1.4°C, and the error of relative humidity was within 10%. The results show that the revised dynamical simulating model is accurate.
