Mean wind speed and wind power density are usually used in wind resource assessment. Standardized the wind speed by Rayleigh frequency distribution, a concept named equivalent wind speed was presented; Taken the cut-in and cut-off wind speed of wind turbine into account, a concept named active wind power density was presented. The two variables play a vital role in wind resource assessment activity.
