Working platforms on fork-lift trucks - Characteristics and operation

Fork-lift trucks lift loads so easily that one tends to forget the risks involved in lifting persons instead of loads. Falls from great heights often occur when persons mount fork arms or pallets instead of using a proper working platform (Figure 1). The following explanations deal with the legal provisions to be considered in the manufacture, selection, and operation of working platforms, and in the selection of the fork-lift trucks.
