Influence of rotor windings inter-turn short circuit fault on electric machine shaft voltage

The relations between rotor windings inter-turn short circuit fault and electric machine shaft voltage was researched. Air-gap conductance method was adopted to analyze electrical machine air-gap magnetic field, and the air gap permeance model was built by taking stator slot effect into consideration. When inter-turn short circuit fault happens, the fault characteristic frequency corresponding to the number of stator slots is predicted to appear in shaft voltage signal, which can be used as the criterion of rotor windings inter-turn short circuit fault. The simulation experiment on fault simulation unit verified the feasibility of the method. © Chin. Soc. for Elec. Eng.
