The design scheme adopted for the main navigable span bridge of Chizhou Changjiang River Highway Bridge is the double-pylon cable-stayed bridge with span arrangement (3×48+96+828+280+100) m and the deck of the bridge is arranged to carry dual 3-lane expressways. Longitudinally, the main girder is designed into the one of floating system. On the piers and pylons, the vertical bearings are arranged, at the pylons, the transverse wind-resistant bearings are arranged and between the pylons and main girder, the longitudinal dampers are arranged. The main girder is an asymmetric steel and concrete hybrid girder structure. The girder depth of the structure at the center line of the bridge is 3.5 m. The part of the concrete girder is the six-cell single-box structure and is 147 m long while the part of the steel girder is the flat streamlined box girder and is 1301 m long. The pylons are the flower vase shape structures, of which the north pylon is 237 m high, the south pylon is 243 m high and between the upper columns of a pylon, 6 steel cross beams are arranged. The stay cables are anchored in the pylons in groups. The surfaces of the steel cross beams on the pylons are decorated with the steel balls and on the whole bridge of the bridge, totally 216 parallel steel strand stay cables are provided. The foundations for the pylons are the large diameter bored piles and the pile caps are the round-end shapes. © 2016, Journal Press, China Railway Bridge Science. All right reserved.
