Development of a universal ring spinning tester

In order to promote the technology of ring spinning, the Institute for Textile Technology (Institut fur Textiltechnik, ITA) at the RWTH Aachen is currently developing a ring spinning tester in cooperation with industrial partners. The aim of the tester is to enable the processing sequences to be observed, permit variable process control to be effected, and enable individual processing stages to be examined. The modular design of the tester and the individual drives used allow for a high degree of flexibility in terms of the product produced and the machine components used, as well as in process control. The efficient, flexible laboratory spinning machine should be of use to research associations, machine manufacturers and spinning mills, and will be available in autumn 2005.
