Sustainable forestry into the future

Initiatives taken by the Tasmanian Forest industry to ensure the secured future of the forests and forest products industry are discussed. The two largest forest companies, Gunns Ltd. and Forestry Tasmania, have achieved international, independently assessed and scientifically recognized accreditation under the Australian Forestry Standard (AFS). The industry persistently demonstrates its commitment to the long term future of the renewable resources by applying the Regional Forest Agreement, the Forest Practices Code, a Good Nneighbour Charter, and a Log Supply Charter. The forest industries are managing the forests for the future with sustainable planning and harvesting techniques and also adopting leading technologies in milling.
