Secret information (watermarking) is used in multimedia digital works to protect copyright, avoid falsifying and forging, and communicate secretly. There are two kinds of watermarking which are called robust watermarking and fragile watermarking respectively due to their different applications. This paper mainly discusses a kind of fragile watermarking which makes use of M-matrix and the scale quantization function. Results show that after any kind of malicious attacking, the extracted watermark is a black and white dot image of uniform distribution with no information of the original watermark except for cutting, realizing the effect of fragile watermarking. The new fragile watermarking algorithm not only is extremely sensitive to malicious manipulation, but also proves to be easy to embed and extract.
