The spectral bidirectional reflectance distribution function of some satellite coating materials and solar panel samples were measured in the visible spectrum (400-780 nm). Average bidirectional reflectance distribution function of samples illuminated by the sun were obtained by weighted averaging the spectral bidirectional reflectance distribution function data over the spectral irradiance in the visible solar spectrum, and their parameterized statistic models were obtained with the genetic algorithms. Using the model, the spatial distribution of scattering light intensity reflected from the satellite is calculated with the modeling and blanking technique of targets when being illuminated by the sun, and its relations with the geometry, materials and other attributes of the satellite was analyzed.
