Fluidic systems contain stored energy which is not used and -deliberately or undeliberately - released into the environment during the course of the production process. The powerFLUID project aims at converting this energy into electric energy and herewith supplying microtechnical function modules by using suitable conversion systems. As an initial step, this article describes a general approach to choosing suitable conversion systems. Furthermore, it presents and explains the results obtained so far from the analyses of different conversion types for fluid mediums and characterises solar converters for the interior operation under artificial lighting for an energy self-sufficient water tap. © Carl Hanser Verlag.
