Research on adaptability of datalink for UAV to radar electromagnetic interference

The viability of unmanned air vehicle (UAV) extraordinary depends on its datalink performance. In the past, the approach to analyze the adaptability to electromagnetic environment (EME) for datalink is based on the 'worst-cases'. It is strict for a threat analysis of electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by radar, and can not reflect the practical adaptability of datalink. The unnecessary waste may be aroused by over-designing of system. According to the characteristic of discrete time to a radar interference and the ability of redundance of datalink to the twinkling interference, an approach of EMI integrated analysis is proposed. From the probability of antennas coupling and the loss between the datalink and the interference source, the interference probability and received interference impulse can be computed and compared with the traditional approaches. At the same time, no assumption has been made in terms of the statistics of the antenna pattern. And an example is discussed to illustrate the approach.
