In grinding SKD-11 hardened steel, the martensite phase transformation is the results of the thermo-mechanical coupled effect and the grind-hardening is highly dependent on the grinding parameters. Special attention is paid to indicating formation mechanism of dark-etching layer and the transition layer to get the desirable hardened surface. Copyright © 2007 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
