A dual-band magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna is presented, where an obtuse triangle- shaped magnetic dipole is used. An obtuse triangle-shaped magnetic dipole is utilized not only to reduce the height of the antenna but also to improve the gain and 3-dB E-plane and H-plane beamwidth. The -10 dB impedance bandwidth of proposed antenna is 26.6% for the frequency range 3.25 GHz-4.25 GHz and 14.7% for the frequency range 4.7 GHz-5.45 GHz, respectively. The peak gain of antenna is observed as 9.7 dBi, at 4.25 GHz. This feature enables the antenna to cover the required bandwidths for wireless local area network (WLAN) operation at the 5.2 GHz band for IEEE 802.11 a/b/g standards. Additionally, it also covers 3.3 GHz-3.8 GHz which is a core spectrum band for 5G deployment applications. © 2019 by Begell House, Inc.
