摘要
For the two-part article with a total of 199 cita- tions, a large number of publications on ultrafine particulate matter (UFP) in indoor environments were sighted. Only private dwellings were considered. The information contained in the respective publications is sorted by different aspects. In Part 1 1) of the publication, the causes of indoor pollution due to contributions from outdoor air and indoor sources were presented. With regard to the investigations carried out for this purpose, a distinction was made in separate chapters between test chamber experiments and measurements in real dwellings. In a further chapter, the data on the UFP exposure situation in dwellings was compiled, based on investigations carried out in various regions of the world. In two additional chapters preceding all of the above, the delimitation and nonuniform use of the UFP size ranges were discussed and comments on the UFP measurement technique were made in order to better classify the published measurement results. In this Part 2 the chemical characterization of UFP is discussed and possibilities of prevention and mitigation of UFP exposure in indoor environments outlined. In an additional chapter, the adverse effects of UFP on human health are presented. Finally, the review article is rounded off by a summary and outlook.
