Probabilistic stability assessment for hybrid AC/DC power systems

An effective algorithm for the probabilistic stability assessment of hybrid AC/DC power systems under the circumstance of multiple failure modes is proposed and implemented by the non-sequential Monte-Carlo simulation. The emergence control measures to AC/DC systems are simulated in detail and the risk indices for system and bus levels are improved. The effects of different emergence control measures, generator models, load models, delays of protection relay systems on the probabilistic stability indices is investigated statistically by the modified EPRI-36 bus system. It is demonstrated that the generator models, time setting of protections and DC control have major effects on the system stability and algorithms presented in this paper are feasible and reasonable.
