Thermocapillarity effect on MHD flow for a liquid thin film with variable fluid properties over an unsteady stretching sheet

The influences of the thermocapillarity, thermal radiation and heat generation/absorption on an unsteady laminar flow of a MHD variable fluid properties thin liquid film over an unsteady stretching surface are analyzed. Two cases are studied, namely (i) the sheet with prescribed surface temperature (PST case) and (ii) the sheet with prescribed wall heat flux (PHF case). The reduced system of ordinary differential equations with the boundary conditions is solved numerically using the fourthorder Runge-Kutta algorithm scheme with the shooting technique. The effects of various parameters on the local skin-friction coefficient, the local Nusselt and the dimensionless film thickness are given in graphics form and discussed. The results show that the local skin-friction coefficient increases with increasing the magnetic, variable viscosity, heat generation parameters for two PST and PHF cases. © 2015 American Scientific Publishers.
