Simultaneous determination of ginsenosides by high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry detection

An approach to the simultaneous registration of ginsenosides in herbal extracts and commercial products was developed on the basis of liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry. The approach was validated for four major ginsenosides: Rg1; Rb1; Rf; and Re determined in extracts from roots of Panax ginseng; a phyto-formulation and a tea produced from the roots. The limits of detection for two applied detection modes belong to the range 0.001–0.01 μg/mL. Samples were analyzed by reversed-phase chromatography with a C18 adsorbent. Electrospray ionization in the positive ion mode and a hybrid linear-trap tandem mass spectrometry detection system were used to monitor compounds. © 2014; Pleiades Publishing; Ltd;
