New high performance lamination resins for flexible packaging printing inks

An experimental study to evaluate the performance of the lamination resins for flexible packaging printing inks is presented. Three resins evaluated were a high molecular weight polyamide, Versamid&reg973, a medium molecular weight polyamide, GAX™14-034, and a nitrocellulose film forming medium molecular weight polyurethane, GAX™14-106. Three Phthalo blue inks were made based on each resin and the backup white was based on Versamid&reg973. Two substrates were used, treated polypropylene B-523 and treated polyester 48 LBT, including two adhesives Adcote&reg333 and M-532A&B.
