摘要：
This paper presents an example of integrating computer systems into the engineering technology curriculum. The study examines the process for applying artificial neural networks to the accurate prediction of market forecasting in the surface mount technology marketplace. NeuroShell 2 software is used to build the prediction algorithm. The background and importance of surface mount technology is covered. An overview of artificial neural networks, as applied to forecasting, is provided. The discussion includes a description of the design methodology for the case study, as well as the outcomes of the process.
