New Orleans could become the first US city to cancel its ban on police using facial recognition surveillance, in the face of rapidly rising crime. The city's mayor, LaToya Cantrell, has asked the New Orleans City Council to bring in a new law that would dramatically roll back the city's blanket ban on the technology, which was introduced just 15 months ago.
