摘要
In this study, we developed a novel appliance named the buccal multiloop appliance to correct anterior crossbite in patients with mixed dentition, and we evaluated its clinical effects. Fifteen anterior crossbite patients with mixed dentition were treated with the buccal multiloop appliance, nine patients were treated with 2 ∗ 4 fixed appliance as the control group, and the effects of treatment were measured and analyzed. The average treatment time was 10.6 months. To determine skeletal, dental, and soft tissue changes, 15 hard tissue measurements and 11 soft tissue measurements were taken in this study. The results of this study show that after treatment with the buccal multiloop appliance, SNA, S-Ns-Sn, S-Ns-UL, UL-E, and UL-Ns-LL measurements were all significantly greater, and the results of two appliance are similar. Therefore, the appliance is effective for accelerating maxillary movement forward, thus improving the patient's facial profile. Furthermore, by the end of treatment, the maxillary relative to the skull base plane had moved forward in all patients. The buccal multiloop appliance is capable of correcting anterior crossbite in patients with mixed dentition and accelerates the forward growth of the maxillary. © 2016 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
