摘要:
Zirconia-alumina coupling already demonstrated its advantages as ceramic-ceramic bearing compared to alumina-alumina system: equivalent wear performance but higher mechanical reliability and increase of design possibilities (more neck lengths - head 022.22 mm). The last step for the in-vitro validation of this system was to investigate the wear behavior with aged zirconia head. Some hip simulator tests have been performed with artificially aged zirconia heads and showed no significant influence on the zirconia-polyethylene or zirconia-alumina wear performance. Then, zirconia-alumina can really be considered as reliable ceramic-ceramic system and aging should be kept out of concern.
