Paper industry in Poland in the 1st quarter of 2010

The paper industry of Poland in the 1st quarter of 2010 is discussed. The most significant increase in the production of paper and board was recorded in: Romania 28.3%, Portugal 17.2%, Belgium 16.8%, Austria 13.7%, Slovenia 12.8% and Switzerland 11.6%. The trends in the Polish economy were better than in the majority of the EU countries. The paper industry in Poland recorded the growth in production and slight improvement of the financial results in 2010 as compared to 2009. The total foreign trade of paper, paper products and printed paper has increased by 8.2% in terms of tones and by 8.1% in value terms. Poland has exported 137.8 thousand tones of uncoated printing, writing and copy grades, 125.4 thousand tones of uncoated kraft paper (for packaging purposes, including kraftliner) and 105 thousand tones of paper containing recovered fibers.
