The BoMo (bogie monitoring) system forms an integral part of the wheelset bearings. In addition to the speed and bearing temperature, it detects the vertical and transverse accelerations of the wheelset. The data are used for dynamic condition monitoring of the wheelset, for permanent supervision of the stability of running, and for direct identification of derailments. Moreover, the BoMo monitoring system supervises the bearing condition and directly detects hot boxes.
